Japanese Plaster
Japanese Plaster, while ancient in its origins, is an exciting application that has been introduced into the U.S. market. It is also called Japanese Stucco, Japanese Wall, or Zen Wall. Terry Hunt Painting & Decorating recently completed a Japanese Stucco project with Wara Juraku in a 12,000 square foot home in the Canyons at Bighorn.
What is Wara Juraku? Wara Juraku is a form of Japanese Plaster that is made up of natural sand, natural clay, diatomaceous earth and straw. Wara means “straw” and refers to the rice stalks that are used in the production of the stucco. Juraku is the soil that has traditionally been collected near Kyoto, Japan for use in the Japanese Stucco.
The properties of Wara Juraku are said to promote well-being, due to the bio-ceramic material which naturally occurs in the soil used to make Wara Juraku. Bio-ceramics have been shown to radiate energy that therapeutically stirs occupants’ circulation and metabolism. Additionally, the diatomaceous earth serves to clean the indoor air of contaminants, thus significantly improving indoor air quality.
